NOUN:1. Something, such as money, owed by one person to another: arrearage, arrears, debt, indebtedness, liability, obligation. See OBLIGATION, PAY. 2. Something justly deserved: comeuppance, desert2 (often used in plural), guerdon, recompense, reward, wage (often used in plural). Informal : lump1 (used in plural). Idioms: what is coming to one, what one has coming. See REWARD.
ADJECTIVE:1. Known to be about to arrive: anticipated, expected, scheduled. See SURPRISE. 2. Owed as a debt: outstanding, owed, owing, payable, receivable, unpaid, unsettled. See PAY. 3. Consistent with prevailing or accepted standards or circumstances: appropriate, deserved, fit1, fitting, just, merited, proper, right, rightful, suitable. See RIGHT.
ADVERB:In a direct line: dead, direct, directly, right, straight, straightaway. See STRAIGHT.
