VERB:1. To give up a possession, claim, or right: abandon, abdicate, cede, demit, forswear, hand over, quitclaim, relinquish, render, renounce, resign, surrender, waive. See KEEP. 2. To bring forth (a product): bear, give, produce. See RICH. 3. To conform to the will or judgment of another, especially out of respect or courtesy: bow1, defer2, submit.
