gimmick
 
NOUN:1. A small specialized mechanical device: concern, contraption, contrivance, gadget, jigger, thing. Informal : doodad, doohickey, widget. Slang : gizmo. See MACHINE. 2. An indirect, usually cunning means of gaining an end: artifice, deception, device, dodge, feint, imposture, jig, maneuver, ploy, ruse, sleight, stratagem, subterfuge, trick, wile. Informal : shenanigan, take-in. See HONEST, MEANS. 3. A clever, unexpected new trick or method: twist. Informal : kicker, wrinkle. Slang : angle2, kick. See ABILITY, EXCITE, GOOD.
