NOUN:1. An act or instance of breaking a law or regulation or of nonfulfillment of an obligation or promise, for example: breach, contravention, infraction, infringement, transgression, violation. See RIGHT. 2. An advance beyond proper or legal limits: encroachment, entrenchment, impingement, infringement, intrusion, obtrusion. See ENTER. 3. The act of entering a building or room with the intent to commit theft: break-in, burglary. See CRIMES.
VERB:1. Law. To enter forcibly or illegally: break in, burglarize. See CRIMES, ENTER. 2. To violate a moral or divine law: err, offend, sin, transgress. See RIGHT.
