VERB:1. To make bare: bare, denude, disrobe, divest, expose, uncover. See PUT ON. 2. To take or keep something away from: deprive, dispossess, divest, rob. See GIVE. 3. To rob of goods by force, especially in time of war: depredate, despoil, havoc, loot, pillage, plunder, ransack, rape, ravage, sack2, spoliate. Archaic : harrow, spoil. See CRIMES, GIVE. 4. To remove the skin of: decorticate, pare, peel, scale1, skin. See PUT ON. 5. To remove all the clothing from: disrobe, unclothe, undress. See PUT ON, SHOW.
