NOUN:1. An abundant, usually overwhelming flow or fall, as of a river or rain: alluvion, cataclysm, cataract, deluge, downpour, freshet, inundation, Niagara, overflow, torrent. Chiefly British : spate. See BIG. 2. Something suggestive of running water: current, drift, flow, flux, rush, spate, stream, surge, tide. See MOVE.
VERB:1. To affect as if by an outpouring of water: deluge, inundate, overwhelm, swamp, whelm. See FULL. 2. To flow over completely: deluge, drown, engulf, flush, inundate, overflow, overwhelm, submerge, whelm. See FULL. 3. To come or go in large numbers: pour, swarm, throng, troop. See BIG, MOVE.
