VERB:1. To make even, smooth, or level: even1, flat, flatten, level, plane2, straighten. See SMOOTH. 2. To bring to perfection or completion: perfect, polish, refine. Idioms: smooth off the rough edges. See BETTER.
ADJECTIVE:1. Posing no difficulty: easy, effortless, facile, simple. Informal : snap. Idioms: easy as ABC, easy as falling off a log, easy as one-two-three, easy as pie, like taking candy from a baby, nothing to it. See EASY. 2. Having no irregularities, roughness, or indentations: even1, flat, flush, level, planar, plane1, straight. See SMOOTH. 3. Free from severity or violence, as in movement: balmy1, delicate, faint, gentle, mild, soft. See CALM, STRONG. 4. Marked by facility, especially of expression: easy, effortless, flowing, fluent, fluid, graceful. See STYLE. 5. Effortlessly gracious and tactful in social manner: bland, suave, urbane. See STYLE.
