NOUN:1. Loss of or damage to one's reputation: bad name, bad odor, discredit, disgrace, dishonor, disrepute, humiliation, ignominy, ill repute, obloquy, odium, opprobrium. See RESPECT. 2. A great disappointment or regrettable fact: crime, pity. Slang : bummer. Idioms: a crying shame. See GOOD.
VERB:1. To damage in reputation: discredit, disgrace, dishonor. Idioms: be a reproach to. See RESPECT. 2. To cause to feel embarrassment, dishonor, and often guilt: reproach. Idioms: put to shame, put to the blush. See RESPECT.
