See CERTAIN. 3. Portending future disaster: apocalyptic, apocalyptical, baneful, dire, direful, fire-and-brimstone, grave2, hellfire, ominous, portentous, unlucky. See LUCK, WARN. 4. So critically decisive as to affect the future: fatal, momentous. See DECIDE.
