ADJECTIVE:1. Artificially genteel: affected2, mannered, precious. Informal : la-di-da. See GOOD, HONEST, PLAIN, TRUE. 2. Made by human beings instead of nature: manmade, manufactured, synthetic. See CULTURE. 3. Made to imitate something else: imitation, manmade, mock, simulated, synthetic. Informal : pretend. See REAL. 4. Not genuine or sincere: affected2, feigned, insincere, phony, pretended. See TRUE. 5. Marked by unnaturalness, pretension, and often a slavish love of fads: factitious, plastic, synthetic, unnatural. See HONEST.
