Something that does not have or make sense: balderdash, blather, bunkum, claptrap, drivel, garbage, idiocy, nonsense, piffle, poppycock, rigmarole, rubbish, tomfoolery, trash, twaddle. Informal : tommyrot. Slang : applesauce, baloney, bilge, bunk2, crap, hooey, malarkey. See KNOWLEDGE. 2. Slang. A member of a law-enforcement agency: bluecoat, finest, officer, patrolman, patrolwoman, peace officer, police, policeman, police officer, policewoman. Informal : cop, law. Slang : copper, flatfoot, fuzz, gendarme, heat, man (often uppercase). Chiefly British : bobby, constable, peeler. See LAW.
