ADJECTIVE:1. Having or showing courage: audacious, bold, brave, courageous, dauntless, doughty, fearless, fortitudinous, gallant, game, heroic, intrepid, mettlesome, plucky, stout, stouthearted, unafraid, undaunted, valiant, valorous. Informal : spunky. Slang : gutsy, gutty. See FEAR. 2. Physically toughened so as to have great endurance: hard, hard-bitten, hard-handed, rugged, tough. Idioms: hard as nails. See CONTINUE, STRONG. 3. Capable of exerting considerable effort or of withstanding considerable stress or hardship: stalwart, stout, strong, sturdy, tough. See STRONG.
