NOUN:1. Slang. A stupid, clumsy mistake: blunder, bull2, bungle, foozle, fumble, muff, stumble. Informal : blooper, boner. Slang : bloomer. See CORRECT. 2. Slang. One deficient in judgment and good sense: ass, fool, idiot, imbecile, jackass, mooncalf, moron, nincompoop, ninny, nitwit, simple, simpleton, softhead, tomfool. Informal : dope, gander, goose. Slang : cretin, ding-dong, dip, jerk, nerd, schmo, schmuck, turkey. See ABILITY.
VERB:Slang. To pass time without working or in avoiding work. Also used with off: bum1 (around), idle, laze, loaf, loiter, lounge, shirk. Slang : diddle2, goldbrick. See INDUSTRIOUS.
PHRASAL VERB:goof up Slang. To harm irreparably through inept handling; make a mess: ball up, blunder, boggle, botch, bungle, foul up, fumble, gum up, mess up, mishandle, mismanage, muddle, muff, spoil.
