A group of athletic teams that play each other: association, circuit, conference, loop. See GROUP. 4. A group of people united in a relationship and having some interest, activity, or purpose in common: association, club, confederation, congress, federation, fellowship, fraternity, guild, order, organization, society, sorority, union.
