Following no predictable pattern: capricious, changeable, erratic, fantastic, fickle, freakish, inconsistent, inconstant, mercurial, temperamental, ticklish, uncertain, unpredictable, unstable, unsteady, variable, volatile, whimsical. See CHANGE, CONTINUE. 2. So remarkable as to elicit disbelief: amazing, astonishing, astounding, fabulous, fantastic, incredible, marvelous, miraculous, phenomenal, prodigious, stupendous, unbelievable, wonderful, wondrous. See GOOD. 3. Appealing to fancy: fanciful, fancy, fantastic, imaginative, whimsical. See PLAIN. 4. Conceived or done with no reference to reality or common sense: antic, bizarre, fantastic, far-fetched, grotesque. See TRUE, USUAL. 5. Consisting or suggestive of fiction: fanciful, fantastic, fictional, fictitious, fictive, invented, made-up. See REAL. 6. Existing only in the imagination: chimeric, chimerical, conceptual, fanciful, fantastic, imaginary, notional, unreal, visionary. See REAL. 7. Particularly excellent: divine, fabulous, fantastic, glorious, marvelous, sensational, splendid, superb, terrific, wonderful. Informal : dandy, dreamy, great, ripping, super, swell, tremendous.
