VERB:1. To get money or something else from by deceitful trickery: bilk, cheat, cozen, defraud, gull, rook, swindle, victimize. Informal : chisel, flimflam, take, trim. Slang : diddle1, do, gyp, stick, sting. See HONEST. 2. To impose a fine on: amerce, fine2, penalize. See REWARD.
