NOUN: Any of numerous plants of the genus Lobelia, having terminal racemes of variously colored flowers with a bilabiate corolla.
ETYMOLOGY:New Latin Lobelia, genus name, after Matthias de Lobel (1538–1616), Flemish botanist and physician.
