Question
In order to supply electrical energy to two high-power consumptions, an extension of a pre-existing electrical system is projected, which will be represented by a Thévenin voltage (132 [kV]) and its series reactance (j14[Ω]). Figure 1 shows the unilinear diagram of this new network and the characteristics of its component elements. *figure 1* Considering a base power of the system of 50 [MVA] and a base voltage of 132 [kV] in the busbar connected to the high voltage side of the T1 transformer, the following is requested: a) Express the whole system as well as a common basis. b) Classify the bars in Slack, PV and PQ, justifying your choice for each of them. c) The objective of this analysis is to find the voltage in the busbars where the consumptions are located. With this in mind, reduce the system in p.u. to the smallest possible number of bars for the calculation of these stresses. d) Does the classification of the bars change? Justify. e) Iterating using the Gauss-Siedel method, determine the stresses at each bar in the system. Explain the step-by-step in each of your calculations. f) With the results obtained in (e), calculate the circulating current and the active power loss in the transmission line. g) Using programming and/or numerical calculation tools, implement the iterative calculations of the Gauss-Siedel method and determine the stresses of the consumption bars for a minimum of 5 iterations. Do you think the values obtained are adequate? Justify. h)Applying an iteration of the Newton-Raphson method, determine the stresses of the consumption bars.
