There are too many traditions in the world, and each country has specific holidays to celebrate determinate event. When I came to here in March of 2016 I didn’t know about what is to celebrate Christmas, Independence Day or Thanksgiving. By beginning of November in 2015 I heard about Thanksgiving Day and what it means. As soon I knew the reason of why we celebrate Thanksgiving I started to show interest and motivation about this day. I like to be a grateful person, so I was very excited to see how the Americans celebrate this date and to be part of it.

Thanksgiving is a day family and friends have a traditional meal including turkey. Thanksgiving is always held on the fourth Thursday of November every year. It’s a very special holiday when everybody comes together as a family to cook, enjoy, and bless the food, but also to enjoy each other. In 2015, I had a special Thanksgiving Day dinner that left me full of joy.

Thanksgiving is a very important holiday in present day culture. People all throughout America take time to make this day a memorable celebration. This tradition has been in America since 1621 when the very first thanksgiving took place. Nigel Hamilton once said, “Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude” and even though the traditions may have been altered and changed, the true meaning of Thanksgiving remains the same. The first thanksgiving was an important milestone that made a huge mark in American culture today.

Thanksgiving, the one day out of the year where you’re supposed to drop everything you do, gather around family and give thanks for all the kindness, joy and peace you’ve received so far in your life. For the past few Thanksgivings Sam and Dean had kept it simple. Y’know, kick their feet up and enjoy a few beers, reminiscent of old friends. If Dean was lucky Sam would even go and buy a pie. He liked it that way. Sure it was simple and low key but he liked simple.

Every Thanksgiving my family and I always gather around the dinner table at my mom’s house, and enjoy an enormous Jamaican Fest with a mix of the traditional Thanksgiving meal. The day before Thanksgiving, my sisters come over and we clean the house. We usually start with the kitchen. We start by fixing the stainless steel refrigerator, and pearly white cabinets. We organize everything perfectly so when tomorrow comes we won’t struggle to find the items we need for the big day. Once the refrigerator and cabinets were done we collect silverware specially used for Thanksgiving day and put it on the stainless steel dishwater to clean

Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season and is one, if not, the largest shopping “holiday” in the United States. Many view it as an integral part of the holiday season, but what they do not realize, it may actually be destroying it. With each new holiday season, sales encroach earlier into the hours of Thanksgiving, and extend for several days after. With this, Thanksgiving becomes nothing but a hurdle for receiving cheap prices, and the holiday season becomes less and less about family and the gratitude for what we already have, but about greed and buying more possessions we do not need.

So about every around the beginning of December I start getting ready for Christmas. Well really I start getting ready around Thanksgiving by going Black Friday shopping. When I go over to my Grandpas on Thanksgiving we always sit with family and talk then we eat. After most of the family is gone my grandpa and I will sit with a notepad and the Thanksgiving ads from the paper and we will make a list of places and things we want to buy. Then later when all of the family is gone we will watch some tv and go to sleep. In the morning we wake up around 5:30 and eat something and then leave to go Black Friday shopping. We will stay out all day and even pick up something to eat for lunch. Finally we will get home around 2:00pm.

The next day, Mrs. Johansen takes the three girls to her brother's home in Gilleleje, where Henrik is a fisherman. They spend a day in the house by the ocean before Henrik says that their Great-aunt Birte died. The service was held that evening. Annemarie didn’t even know she had an aunt, and wants the truth. Thanksgiving here I wake up I’m so excited my family members are all coming my Grandpa,Grandma,Cousin,Aunt and friends. It's going to be a nice thanksgiving day. My Aunt arrives she walks in the door she said to me,

Yes, the teacher excitedly told the students that they were sharing American Thanksgiving Experiences. The teacher repeated the question with some animated gestures and a very approachable tone to share their experiences on Thanksgiving celebration. All students took turns in narrating their experiences in simple but understandable English.

So then after awhile my friends Tanner Mead, Alex Seifert, and Luke Biggerstaff all dared me to hit a ramp that went down hill as a landing.
