ADVANCEMENT TO CANDIDACY, QUALIFYING EXAM, PROPOSAL DEFENSE
I. Advancement to Candidacy
Advancement to Candidacy is a process of validation by the Neuroscience Program Faculty to determine that a student enrolled in the PhD program has acquired sufficient core knowledge and academic skills to initiate dissertation research leading to the PhD degree.
A. The Advancement process involves two separate activities
1. The Qualifying Exam
This exam will evaluate students to determine that
a. an acceptable level of core knowledge in Neuroscience has been accomplished
b. the ability to read and evaluate scientific literature is sufficient
c. both oral and written communications skills are sufficiently developed
d. there is sufficient knowledge and understanding in

Will the design adequately address the proposed aims. Describe strengths of weaknesses of the design. Indicate how the design might be strengthened: for instance, to address a more definitive outcome or improve the reliability of the data.
d) Describe the major findings and the author’s interpretation. Discuss whether or not the interpretation is appropriate and based on the data? Describe the adequacy of experimental controls? Are there any concerns with human subjects or animal welfare?
e) Are the conclusions of the authors justified based on the findings? Do the authors describe the importance of this study to the field and does it fairly represent findings of the experiments?
f) What do you see as the next scientific questions and experiments to be addressed in this line of research?
9) A limited number of relevant references may be included to emphasize or document specific and critical points in the response.
10) The critique must be typed in a current version of Word and not exceed 5 pages, single spaced, with 1 inch margins, in Times New Roman 12 font.
11) Points for adherence to formatting are included in the final
The authors were very detailed about how they collected the data, the rating scale they used to determine the interactions, what type of interactions they were looking for, and how the experimenters were trained for the process. The research design was easy to follow where you can see the structure of the study in each of its phases. They mentioned two tests that I had not heard of for their data analysis, however, that was not the reason I struggled with understanding the results.
· What conclusions did the study reach? Are the conclusions appropriate? Why or why not?

The two priority problems for Mr. George are Hypertension and Diabetes (hyperglycemia). It has been demonstrated that arterial hypertension is major important determinant of heart diseases. The pathogenesis of hypertension is linked with multiple factors that include dietary, genetic, and patterns of lifestyle. The biological factors that determine hypertension include: atherosclerosis, resistance to insulin; hyper-responsiveness towards adrenalin based stimuli and dysfunction of endothelial cells. It was studied that the evidence suggests that decrease in the ratio of prevalence of high blood pressure gives rise to reduced ratio of cardiovascular related mortalities. It can be achieved through intervention with suitable medical therapy (Villalpando et al., 2010).
I choose to use my older sister,Chioma, for this assignment because I felt like she was the perfect candidate to explain what she does. I decided to call my sister and ask if she was available to help on November 1,2017. I said my name and explained why I thought she my best resource. She came up with an idea that we could actually meet up at a private place so that I can be interviewed. We scheduled to meet up on a Sunday because it was basically the only day we were both free. She choose one of the officesses that she worked at earlier in the year; and thought that 2:00 pm was a reasonable time. That following Sunday we meet up and was dressed in formal attire. I wore a tan button down with a blue tie, and accompanied with black slacks. My

What was the research question? (Some authors are more general and state only a “purpose” for the research study. If so, indicate the
10. Was the sample for this study adequately described? Provide a rationale for your answer.
Another aspect of the research that does seem to constrain the author’s point of view, however, is the fact that no actual experiment was conducted by F & T.
Were there any unexpected findings? What did the authors conclude? What did the results mean, and what are their implications?
4. What is the most significant finding(s) in the article? Summarize this clearly in several sentences.
3. Lancet’s editors should not have publish such a controversial study without further academic experiments and investigations.
A: Some of the executives refuse to function as project sponsors due to the following reasons. In some cases the executives already have a heavy burden with a normal work when they are asked to cat as a project sponsor for several projects at a time. In some cases they don't have an understanding about the workload that is being assigned to them so executives refuse to do so. In some cases they refuse when the project manager doesn't allow the executive to be informed and allowed in the project. In some cases the executive refuses as it may have negative impacts on his career if the project goes unsuccessful.
