: I carefully read each of the topics listed. I loved
learning that hope is a confident expectation and is not
uncertain. When we have hope, we can endure today
because of our assurances of tomorrow.

I read “The Infinite Power of Hope” by Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
As a mother, the story he told of his mother broke my
heart! I cannot even begin to imagine the fear she must
have felt in those moments. He said “Despair drains from
us all that is vibrant and joyful and leaves behind the
empty remnants of what life was meant to be. Despair kills
ambition, advances sickness, pollutes the soul, and
deadens the heart. Despair can seem like a staircase that
leads only and forever downward.” Only hope can break
through this darkness. Hope is not knowing that something
will be, but the trust in faith in the Lord and His willingness
to keep the promises made to us if we will keep our
promises. “Never surrender. Never allow despair to
overcome your spirit”
1 Nephi 5:1–8
These verses exemplify how a combination of faith, family,
and preserving spiritual knowledge can play a pivotal role
in our own spiritual journeys. Lehi acknowledged the
importance of preserving sacred writings and sent his sons
back on a challenging and dangerous journey to retrieve
them. This is an amazing example of the importance of
strong family unity and support in overcoming obstacles
and fulfilling divine purpose. Sariah reminded me of the
importance of trusting in God to navigate us through
difficult situations and leaning on our faith in God, that He
knows our path and will not ask of us more than we can
do.
2 Nephi 26:29–31
As I read the thought that came to my mind was how the
wisdom and mercy that God has is far greater than ours. It
is important for us to have humility and remember that we
do not have all the answers and that God wants us to
come to Him for guidance. God invites all to come unto
Him, regardless of their circumstances or background.
God’s plan is vast his love is all encompassing and it
inspires my journey with humility, trust, having an open
heart, and knowing that God’s love and guidance is
available to everyone who earnestly seeks Him.
2 Nephi 31:19–20
