2 A. Write an executive summary (suggested length of 1 page) by doing the following: A1. Describe the key features of the proposed affiliation and justify why this affiliation is important to TPMC. The proposed affiliation between Twin Pines Medical Center (TPMC) and the Cleveland Clinic is significant for several reasons, which are rooted in the needs of TPMC's community and the complementary strengths of the Cleveland Clinic. Firstly, TPMC serves a district in northern Louisiana that is characterized by high rates of uninsured individuals and a significant diabetic population. With 33% of the population uninsured and an 18% incidence rate of diabetes, there is a clear need for accessible and affordable healthcare services, especially for chronic conditions like diabetes. TPMC's mission, vision, and values emphasize providing comprehensive and quality healthcare services to all, regardless of their ability to pay or background. This commitment to accessibility and affordability is a cornerstone of TPMC's operations and community service. The Cleveland Clinic, on the other hand, is known for its wide range of specialties, including endocrinology, which is particularly relevant to diabetes care. By affiliating with the Cleveland Clinic, TPMC could expand its service offerings to include these specialties, enhancing the level of care available to its diabetic patients. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic's programs for low-income and underinsured populations align with TPMC's commitment to serving all community segments. The affiliation is also important because it would allow TPMC to leverage the Cleveland Clinic's resources and expertise in providing high-quality care while maintaining cost efficiency. This is crucial for TPMC, which aims to provide affordable care in line with its values. (Cleveland Clinic, n.d.). In summary, the affiliation is essential to TPMC because it would: 1. Enhance the range of medical specialties available to TPMC's patients, particularly in areas like endocrinology, which are essential for diabetes care.
3 2. Support TPMC's mission to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to a community with a high rate of uninsured people and significant health challenges. 3. Align with TPMC's values of serving all community members by partnering with an institution with similar commitments to low-income and underinsured populations. 4. Enable TPMC to benefit from the Cleveland Clinic's expertise and resources, ensuring that high-quality care is delivered cost-effectively. The affiliation would thus help TPMC fulfill its mission better and serve its community more effectively, making it a strategic and beneficial move for the medical center. A2. Summarize the high-level process of association with the proposed affiliate organization. Thorough research and understanding of the affiliate organization's goals, values, and objectives. It includes evaluating the mission, activities, target audience, and reputation in the industry. They Reach out to express their interest in becoming an affiliate by sending an email, making a phone call, or using the online application process. The next step is negotiation, which includes discussing the terms of affiliation, like the roles and responsibilities of each party, the benefits and resources offered, financial arrangements, and the duration of the partnership. Depending on the organization's requirements, a formal proposal submission might be needed while detailing how the affiliation will benefit them. When the proposal gets approved, the onboarding process involves signing agreements and getting acquainted with the organization's operations. Active collaboration with the affiliate organization occurs by participating in joint events, sharing resources, cross-promotion, etc. Both parties will assess the impact and effectiveness of the affiliation. At a certain point, both parties will decide whether to renew the affiliation based on its success and benefits. If the partnership isn't yielding the expected results, a discussion about termination or renegotiation of terms might occur. Throughout the affiliation, maintenance of open and
